MCAS and Online Payments

Important Update: School Payments Moving to MCAS

Parents and carers, a reminder that from September, all payments for school dinners, trips and other school products will be made through MCAS (MyChildAtSchool). We will no longer be using Tucasi Scopay.

This change means that payments will sit alongside your child’s information within the MCAS app, making it easier to manage everything in one place.

What you need to know:

  • Any existing Scopay balances, trip payments and purchased products have been transferred to MCAS. These may not appear until closer to the start of term while new accounts are being activated.
  • You may receive an account activation email from MCAS. This is expected and simply means our Finance Team is preparing accounts ahead of September – you don’t need to do anything.
  • Payments cannot currently be made through either MCAS or Scopay. Payment functionality is expected to be available from the final week of August.

If you already have an MCAS account:

  • Your Scopay balance will automatically transfer across.
  • Payments will appear as an additional tab within your existing MCAS account.
  • Please note balances may not appear immediately and will be activated later this month.

If you don’t yet have an MCAS account (and your child is already enrolled):

  • Please set up your MCAS account as soon as possible by getting in touch with the academy on info@horburyacademy.com.
  • We will need a current email address to create your account. Once created, you’ll receive an email with instructions to set your password and access your account.
  • During the summer break, academy staffing levels are reduced, so please allow additional time for responses to enquiries.

If your child is joining us in Year 7 this September:

  • You will receive information towards the end of August explaining how to set up your MCAS account.
  • Once activated, you’ll be able to add dinner money and manage payments through MCAS.

We recommend downloading the MCAS app for the easiest access to school communications and payments, although you can also log in via the website. More information on MCAS can be found on our website: LINK HERE.

Guidance on viewing and adding dinner money can be found here:

If you have any issues or questions, please contact our Finance Team at finance@placepartnership.com. However, please be aware that most common issues, such as not being able to view your balance, should be resolved automatically over the next few weeks.

Thank you for your support as we make this transition.

What is MCAS?

At Horbury Academy we make use of My Child at School (MCAS) as our preferred platform for communicating with parents and carers. This platform links directly to our academy data systems to ensure contact details are up to date and information is received quickly.

What do you use MCAS for?

  • Quick messages regarding your child e.g. ‘above and beyond’ messages from staff
  • Letters, both personalised letters for your child or links to whole school letters
  • Reports e.g. your child’s most recent data report
  • Making Parents Evening appointments
  • Tracking your child’s attendance
  • Updating personal details for you and your child
  • Accessing your child’s timetable

How do I access and use MCAS?

Parents/carers need to sign up to this system and it is recommended that any adult with parental responsibility for the child does so. You can log in via their website, but many parents and carers find it easier to download the MCAS app for their mobile device.

To set you up with an account, the academy will need your email address. Once your account is created you’ll receive an email containing a link to allow you set your password.

Once complete, login to the app or website using your email address and password.

If you need an account, please contact info@horburyacademy.com.

You can access the web version or download the app via the links below. If you are viewing on a PC, you can scan the QR code below to go directly to the MCAS website.

There is a user guide and FAQs to help you use MCAS below. Please note, this user guide covers the full functionality of MCAS, which we will continue to phase in. Therefore, not all of the modules discussed in the guide are currently activated.

For any queries or support with using MCAS please contact info@horburyacademy.com.

How do I set up my account?

The academy will need your email address to create your account. Once your account is created you’ll receive an email containing a link to allow you set your password.

Once complete, login to the app or website using your email address and password.

What do I do if I've forgotten my username or password?

Users can self-reset their password by following the Reset Password link beneath the login form on the MCAS Website, and entering their email address when prompted.

Please remember to check Spam and Junk folders for emails if they don’t show up in your inbox.

What do I do if I've forgotten my PIN?

The MCAS app asks you to set a secure PIN to protect your account. This PIN is set and stored only on your phone. Should you forget this PIN number, the only solution is to delete the app from your device, reinstall the app from the AppStore / PlayStore, and then re-add your account using your email address and your password.

How do I switch between my children?

To switch between your children, open the menu in the app. The current child whose details you are viewing should be pictured at the top with their name listed alongside. Tap on their name. A pop-up window will then appear listing any other children linked to your account. Tap the child whose details you wish to view to switch to them.
